A voyage on board the Morning Light from Liverpool to Melbourne and Auckland, 1860 to 1861

James Smeal's diary and log
James Smeal, originally of Glasgow, Scotland, kept a detailed diary and log during his voyage from Liverpool to Melbourne and Auckland aboard the clipper ship, Morning Light. The voyage took place from October 1860 to March 1861. The book in which James Smeal made his observations also includes poems, illustrations and a passenger list.
Appended is an account of the ship-wreck of the cutter, Eliza, after leaving for a trip to the Feejee (Fiji) Islands in May 1861.
